Frequently Asked Questions 
  • Do I need a car?
    No, a car is not essential. You can get to Ille-sur-Tet from Perpignan Airport using the shuttle bus from the airport to Perpignan and then the bus or train from Perpignan to Ille-sur-Tet. Once here, you can use the bus and train to go up and down the valley from mountains to coast.


  • Can I hire a car from the airport?
    Yes, all the local airports have car hire facilities. We have found that Holiday Autos do a thorough search in order to get the best quote.


  • Do you provide sheets and towels?
    Yes, budget airlines charge for heavy luggage so included in our prices are bed linen, two tea towels and a shower mat per apartment and a hand, bath and beach towel per person.


  • Has the fridge got an ice compartment?
    Yes. There is also a freezer for bigger purchases available in the laundry area.


  • Are the beds comfortable?
    Yes, visitors have commented on how comfortable the beds have been.


  • Are the toilets modern?
    Yes, all shower rooms have modern fitments.


  • What is the weather like?
    It depends when you come. May and September are pleasant. Lightweight jacket/cardigan needed at night. June, July and most of August usually very hot in the day, followed by long balmy evenings. October is usually still very good. November to March offers mixed weather but there are more bright blue skies and sunshine than not and it rarely freezes. The temperatures begin to rise again in April though the weather can be unpredictable. All in all there are more T-shirt days than sweater days and raincoats are not needed very often.It is reported as the sunniest region in France.


  • Have you got a washing machine?
    Yes. Our garage is also the house laundry. There is an automatic washing machine and ironing facilities for our visitors. There is a tumble dryer available for our winter rentals.


  • Can I buy everything I need in the local supermarket?
    Mostly, yes. The tea is a bit weak and you may need to bring your favourite speciality products but the Champion supermarket sells most things.


  • How far is it to the nearest supermarket?
    You can walk to the nearest from the house. It takes about five minutes.


  • Are there restaurants and bars nearby?
    There are several, all within walking distance.


  • Can I access my emails?
    Yes. There is a small internet cafe in the town. We also have WIFI access for use with your own laptop.


  • Can I park the car close-by?
    You can park outside your front door. There are also car parks in town.


  • How far away is the bus stop and railway station?
    The bus stop is 3 minutes walk and the railway station is 8 minutes walk away.


  • Are there any nice, easy walks close by?
    Lovely. We have written up some for visitors to follow. The feedback so far is excellent. You could also hire one of our bikes and do one of the cycle rides through the peach orchards.


  • What is the local wine like?
    We think it's very good and very reasonably priced. There is a good range. You can either try before you buy at the Cooperatives or buy off the shelves in the supermarkets.


  • Do you have a hairdryer?
    Yes, one in each apartment.


  • Do you provide cleaning materials?
    Yes, all cloths and cleaning products are provided.


  • How far is the nearest ski slope?
    Font Romeu is the nearest, it is part of the Pyrenees 2000 group. It is about one and a half hours drive away.
